Installing MARY VS Code Extension

This guide walks through the process of installing the MARY VS Code Extension in your editor.

Prerequisites

  • Visual Studio Code, Windsurf, or Cursor editor installed
  • Internet connection for downloading the extension
  • MARY CLI installed (recommended for full functionality)

Installation Methods

  1. Open VS Code, Windsurf, or Cursor
  2. Navigate to the Extensions view (Ctrl+Shift+X / ⌘+Shift+X)
  3. Search for "MARY"
  4. Click the "Install" button on the MARY extension

Manual Installation

For environments without direct access to the VS Code Marketplace:

  1. Download the VSIX file from our official website
  2. In your editor, select "Install from VSIX..." from the Extensions view menu
  3. Browse to the downloaded VSIX file and select it
  4. Restart your editor when prompted

Verifying Installation

After installation:

  1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P / ⌘+Shift+P)
  2. Type "MARY" - you should see MARY commands in the list
  3. The MARY icon should appear in your editor's activity bar

Configuration

After installing, you can configure the extension:

  1. Open Settings (Ctrl+, / ⌘+,)
  2. Search for "MARY"
  3. Adjust settings according to your preferences

Authentication

To access all features:

  1. Open the Command Palette and run "MARY: Sign In"
  2. Follow the authentication flow in the browser
  3. Once authenticated, you'll have full access to MARY services
